FC Schalke 04 | Tönnies does not want an honorary membership on Schalke

Clemens Tönnies does not want to become an honorary member at FC Schalke 04.

What’s Gone Wrong At Schalke?!

According to information from the "Ruhr Nachrichten", the former club patron asked a fan of the second division soccer team to withdraw honor membership. The fan followed this wish.

"With his support and commitment, we have the Veltins-Arena, the Knappsschmiede and the entire Berger Feld, to name a lot," wrote the Schalke member Manfred Nentwich. Schalke's supervisory board, whose chairman Tönnies was long, is said to have already met. However, the explosive act does not occur.

Tönnies therefore does not want to become an honorary member because Schalke needed peace in the fight for the return to the Bundesliga. Tönnies wanted to save a discussion about possible honorary membership to the association.

The 65-year-old was repeatedly controversial in his more than 20 years on Schalke. Among other things, he got criticized for racist statements that he regretted. After leaving almost two years ago, he offered his heart club to expand the sponsorship of his meat empire after the Gazprom-out. However, the club declined this.
