Fenerbahce Istanbul apparently in conversations with Jorge Jesus: competition for Joachim Löw?

Former national coach Joachim Löw apparently receives well -known competition for the coaching position at the Turkish top club Fenerbahce Istanbul. As Turkish media report, there was a meeting between Fener President Ali Koc and the former Benfica coach Jorge Jesus. Photos of the meeting were also published.

Allegedly, an agreement with the 67 -year -old Portuguese had already been reached. This denied Fenerbahce on Tuesday evening clearly in an official message. Instead, all options would simply be considered. Jesus and Benfica had agreed on a separation at the end of December after a series of failure. Between 2010 and 2015, Jesus led the club to three championship titles in Portugal.

At Fenerbahce everything seemed to be running out of Joachim Löw into the Turkish metropolis, which 62-year-old had already trained in the 1998/99 season. After resigning as a national coach after the European Championship last summer, Löw took a break and has been without employment since then.

At Fener, Löw would meet Mesut Özil again, to which he always had a good relationship as a national coach. However, Özil was suspended by the current coach Ismail Kartal at the end of March - which was quite surprising to the 33-year-old.

Under Kartal, the previously stumbling traditional club was recently clearly on the upswing. Of 14 league games directed by the 60-year-old, Fenerbahce lost only one, four game days before the end of the season, the club ranks in second place in the table. A continued employment of Kartal does not seem to be an issue.
